The Travels of the Foreigner: HILANG DAN HABIS-LAH!(PT V)

Zomba, Zomba, Zomba… Tak Zomba, Zombi-lah!! – from Zombi Kampung Pisang

Saturday: We basically hung around the house and did nothing else, as far as I can remember. Without Uncle Z__’s kids hanging around and creating chaos at every opportunity, things were, well… boring. So we watched DVD’s, particularly that of Zombi Kampung Pisang (Banana Village Zombie) and did nothing much. Until Uncle K___ decided to introduce us to karaoke, which I strongly dislike. If you can’t sing, spare us the bleeding ears and torture, I thought. It was soon revealed that we were all going to Tip-Top B.B.Q for dinner, the place where we ate things like fried baby crabs, clams, lala, ikan bakar and stingray and also sea snails. I felt like Jesus Christ during The Last Supper, weird.

  1. Wow, you eat stingray? There’s no such delicacy here.

  2. Have you ever tried eating fried eel’s eyeballs? I had it in Australia, and I wasn’t ok with it.

  3. I haven’t tried fried eel’s eyeballs, nor have I heard of such a thing in Oz. Must be an Eastern States thing. The stingray was quite soft, with few bones. But the challenge is cutting the portions of meat to your preferred size. With a fork and spoon 🙂

  4. i’m a karaoke convert and i sing like a cow giving birth, i’m afraid.

  5. I still prefer old-style singing and crooning 🙂
