Down Under Pride: IDIOT NATION

There are more fools in the world than there are people.
Heinrich Heine (1797 – 1856)

So it comes again he question of, “Is the Land of Oz trying to affix the label of Primitive, Stupid, Meat-eater without even knowing?” Just recently, I have been shown the “joy” and “privilege” of watching Friday Night Download, relative to the Friday Night Show and even more primitive offshoot of the even more demeaning Big Brother, created courtesy of the Neanderthals of Endemol Southern Star and hosted by the Brainless Slugs of Network Ten. These hosts, along with the Aussie Male “Ideal” of Tall, Skinny, White, Blonde and Well-Racked in the flesh Bree Amer try to create a show that even Thank God You’re Here doesn’t deserve to be a part of despite being “on the same family tree”. I watched in disgust as people speaking in foreign languages are being mocked and taken advantage of by way of speech, knowing that humiliation does not equal entertainment in the truest sense. Is this what the proud country of Australia has amounted itself to after years of our descendants fought for our country and figured out how to survive in such a place? Just nothing but turning ourselves into many a brainless lump of people? After all, it does not take a thing like this to show that we can do better things with our time. I remember reading the UWA offshoot to Curtin’s Grok magazine, Pelican on how the “Six inches of manly, primitive Aussie bloke” has finally started on a slow, painful death to the joy of many a lady, since the article was relevant to All Things Aussie and the two sides of What to be Proud Of/What Not to be Proud Of. Alas, there are a few things we must fix this nation on, including the next generation’s teens wanting to be voluntary illiterates.

  1. Virgilius, you always call it like you see it. Did you ever see “V for Vendetta” by the way? I’m thinking you might like it.

  2. Yup, I’ve watched it more than once 🙂 and I own the hard cover edition of the comic by Alan Moore as well to boot.
