Little Things: PARADOX, LIES

I always lie. From Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

Lies and bullshit, I realised, are one and the same these days, only that one makes itself more elaborate sounding compared to the former. Here’s what the book On Bullshit by Harry G. Frankfurt says about the definitions of bullshit:

Short of lying, especially by pretentious word or deed, misrepresentation… of somebody’s own thoughts, feelings or attitudes…

Lies are… well, how could I explain? ways of defending oneself from something that harms on an “inside” scale, guilt is an aftereffect, but even that doesn’t last very long. Remember how a parent promises to do something for you, only to forget or or say “I’m sorry, we’ll do that tomorrow”? that could be a lie in itself too, if you get my meaning. Again, this could all differ and opinions.. well, let’s not get into those messy things. It’s funny how parents tell us not to lie, but they do it and we’ll grow out of the “not lying” phase of our lives sooner or later? Not everyone can be good all the time, not even people we look up to.
